BEHIND THE MASK
The Music & Art of MORDMANN
"I believe that we all have this voice inside, beckoning us, goading us into chasing the whimsy of our dreams into the unknown. The very notion can be petrifying. Though, after all these years of uncertainty and searching, I've happened upon this clearing beyond the shaded canopy of my doubts and trepidation. It's calm and tranquil, yet I am awash with euphoria and excitement. I have finally arrived in the place that I was always meant to be."

While, even in his earliest memories, he was drawn by a deep curiosity for music, a serious pursuit of the subject did not begin until circa 2004, when J. acquired his first bass guitar. A year had passed without much progress, but soon followed a semester of guitar lessons and basic music theory. In 2006, J. got ahold of his first DAW, the digital audio workstation known as FL Studio 6. Pandora's box was wide open by that point, and there was no turning back. For two decades, J. has been learning, producing, and honing his craft.
A product of the late '80's to mid '90's, his influences, though not entirely encapsulated by the times, range from NES and SEGA game scores, to artists such as David Bowie and Pink Floyd, to the avant garde masterworks of Mike Patton and Mr. Bungle, respectively. Why not throw in some Prince, Reggie Watts, and Aphex Twin for good measure. In all honestly, MORDMANN's major influences are too many to count, but these are the ones that he returns to till this day.
Honorable mentions: Prodigy, Orbital, Underworld, Matt Johnson of Jamiroquai, ClownCore, and MonoNeon.
